Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest On Fentanyl Charge

42-year-old Hermon D. Chambers of Hiddenite was arrested Friday (April 12) by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony possession of schedule I controlled substance (fentanyl) and misdemeanor possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce.

Chambers was arrested following a traffic stop conducted by Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies Friday. He has previous charges awaiting trial including felony counts of flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle and probation violation.

Chambers is on probation as a result of a conviction in July, 2022 for attempted speeding to elude arrest. He received probation and a 48 month suspended sentence. According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Hermon D. Chambers has multiple prior convictions listed.

In September of 2000 Chambers was convicted of second-degree murder in Henderson County. He served more than 20 years in prison before being released in December, 2020. Chambers has convictions dating back to 1999. As of today (April 16) he was not listed as an inmate in Alexander County. He has a Superior Court date April 22 and a District Court appearance scheduled for June 10.
