Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest Of Woman On Meth Charge
29-year-old Bobbie Jean Colon of Summit Street in Morganton was arrested Saturday (May 13) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. She’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance. Colon is also charged with speeding greater than 15 miles per hour over the speed limit.
Shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday, a Public Safety Officer was traveling on Burkemont Avenue near Conley Street in Morganton. The officer saw a blue Honda Accord traveling above the posted speed limit. A traffic stop was conducted on Burkemont Avenue and contact was made with the driver, Bobbie Colon. As Colon was getting her license the officer reportedly spotted two marijuana cigarettes, resulting in a probable cause search of the driver’s pocketbook.
The search of the pocketbook reportedly resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine. Police records show that the officer seized one gram of meth. Colon was arrested and brought to the Burke County Jail under $5,000 secured bond. She was not listed as an inmate in Burke County as of earlier today (May 16). An initial District Court appearance was scheduled Monday (May 15). Colon’s next District Court date is set for June 2.
