For the second straight day Wednesday (November 18), Catawba County Public Health reported three COVID-19-related deaths. The additional fatalities reported increased the overall total to 81. In addition, 67 new cases of the coronavirus were reported Wednesday, raising the total to 5,991 since the start of the pandemic. Hospitalizations due to the virus increased to 52, seven more than Tuesday’s report.
55 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Wednesday in Burke County, lifting the overall total to 3,678, with 65 deaths. There were 11 people hospitalized in Burke County with the coronavirus. 36 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Wednesday in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 3,140, with 39 deaths. There were 22 people hospitalized. The Caldwell County Health Department confirmed at outbreak at Gateway Rehabilitation and Healthcare. Two residents at the facility have tested positive.
No new cases of the coronavirus were reported Wednesday in Alexander County, leaving the total at 1,217, with 13 deaths.
