Thursday Morning COVID-19 Update: Ten Deaths Reported In Catawba County Wednesday

Ten COVID-19-related deaths were reported by Catawba County Public Health Wednesday (December 30), for a total of 161 virus-related fatalities since the start of the pandemic. 147 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in Catawba County Wednesday, bringing the total to 11,306. 113 people were hospitalized.

Burke County Public Health reported three COVID-19-associated deaths Wednesday. There have now been 82 virus-related fatalities in the county since the start of the pandemic. Two individuals were in their 80s and was over the age of 100. Two were not hospitalized and one was hospitalized. Burke County Public Health reported 197 new cases of the coronavirus, increasing the total to 6,106. There were 23 people hospitalized with the virus.

One COVID-19-related death was reported in Caldwell County Wednesday, increasing the total to 77. There were 138 new cases reported Wednesday, raising the overall total to 5,750. 59 Caldwell County residents were hospitalized. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reported 2,642 total cases in Alexander County this morning (December 31). That’s an increase of 78 since Wednesday morning. There have been 30 COVID-related deaths in Alexander County.
