Thursday Morning COVID-19 Update: Deaths Reported In Catawba, Caldwell, New Cases Confirmed In Three Hickory Metro Counties

The 55th COVID-19-associated death was reported Wednesday (September 30) by Catawba County Public Health. 33 new cases of the coronavirus were reported Wednesday as well, increasing the overall total to 3,207. There were 16 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Catawba County, two more than Tuesday (September 29).

Caldwell County health officials learned of the county’s 29th COVID-19-related death Wednesday. The patient, who was between the ages of 65 and 74, had been hospitalized and was reported to have underlying health conditions. 22 new coronavirus cases were confirmed Wednesday in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 1,713. There were 19 people hospitalized.

20 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Wednesday in Burke County, increasing the total to 2,426, with 47 deaths. There were seven people hospitalized with the coronavirus in Burke County. Alexander County’s total number of COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday was 527, with seven deaths.
