47 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Wednesday (October 14) by Catawba County Public Health, increasing the total to 3,728, with 61 deaths. Coronavirus hospitalizations increased by three over Tuesday (October 13), to 24.
Burke County Public Health was notified Wednesday of the 51st COVID-19-related death in the county. The individual was in their 90s and was not hospitalized. 24 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed Wednesday in Burke County, lifting the overall total to 2,720. There were seven people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Burke County. 9.5% of the people tested for the coronavirus have been positive and the death rate among those who have the virus is 1.9%.
50 new cases of the coronavirus were reported Wednesday in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 2,062, with 30 deaths. There were nine Caldwell County residents hospitalized with COVID-19 and as of Wednesday, at least 1,188 patients had recovered. 7.9% of the people tested in Caldwell County have been positive for the virus, and the death rate is 1.4%.
