35-year-old Melissa Jane Cherry-Pastula and 18-year-old Preston Chase Lowery, both of Lincolnton, and 19-year-old Justin Ryan Shoemake of Conover, were arrested Friday (July 16) by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Officers. They’re each charged with four felony counts apiece of larceny of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm, and one count apiece of felony second-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit second-degree burglary.
An investigation began on July 2 into the larceny of the guns from a home on Fran Avenue in Lincolnton. During the investigation three suspects were identified and charged with taking four firearms valued at $3,700. Evidence was collected from witnesses along with video surveillance from the area which led to the arrests of the three suspects.
All three suspects were placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center, Shoemake under an $80,000 secured bond, Cherry-Pastula under $60,000 secured bond, and Lowery under $58,000 secured bond. Lowery is no longer listed as an inmate, the other two suspects remained in jail as of earlier today (July 20). Cherry-Pastula and Shoemake are scheduled to appear in District Court August 3, Lowery has a District Court date August 9.
