Three Suspects Charged With Felony Drug Possession In Burke County Case
31-year-old Jacob Joseph Mueller, who is listed as a homeless person from Morganton, and 26-year-old Donovan Preston K. Goode and 51-year-old Joseph David Self, both of the same East Meeting Street, Morganton address, were all arrested Thursday (October 26) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. All three suspects are charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance. A fourth suspect, a Morganton woman, has been charged with misdemeanor counts in this case.
Shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday, Public Safety Officers responded to a business on West Fleming Drive in Morganton in reference to a disturbance. When they arrived, officers searched the suspect’s vehicle and their bags. During the investigation, police reportedly found just under 3.5 grams of methamphetamine along with a meth pipe. The suspects were taken into custody and charged.
According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Mueller has multiple felony and misdemeanor convictions listed in Burke and Caldwell Counties dating back to 2018. His most recent conviction was in March, 2022 in Burke County for felony breaking & entering and larceny after breaking & entering. That same website shows multiple convictions on record for Self, all in Burke County, dating back to 1991. His last conviction was in March of this year for felony possession of schedule II controlled substance.
The three suspects charged with the felony drug offenses were all confined in the Burke County Jail following their arrests Thursday. Mueller was jailed under $3,000 secured bond. Goode and Self were confined without bond. All three were scheduled to appear in District Court today (October 27).
