Three Suspects Charged With Assault In Connection To Disturbance Between Neighbors

30-year-old James Adam Jones and 26-year-old Kalob Ryan Pegram, both of Lincolnton, were arrested Wednesday (August 2) by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Officers. Another suspect, 25-year-old Amanda Lenee Brooks of Lincolnton, is charged in the case but had not been apprehended.

All three suspects are charged with felony breaking and entering to terrorize. Jones is additionally charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, felony obstruction of justice and felony identity theft. Pegram is also charged with two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

The three suspects are charged in connection to a case under investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. They are investigating a disturbance between neighbors that left two people with serious injuries.

On Tuesday (August 1) at approximately 10:00 p.m. deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Hauss Road in Lincolnton, where a disturbance had occurred. One of the victims told deputies she was at home with another person when two individuals knocked on the door of the residence.

Before they could answer the door, it was kicked in by the suspects, a male and a female. The suspects began smashing items in the home and accusing the residents of stealing from their mobile home next door. During the home invasion the female suspect was armed with a wooden stick and the male suspect was armed with a crowbar. A third person was waiting in a vehicle.

The reporting victim received a broken arm and other injuries and was transported to the hospital by a friend. Another victim was beaten with the crowbar and transported to Caromont–Gaston where he was treated in the Emergency Room and released.

The three suspects fled the scene but one of the male suspects was apprehended during a traffic stop by Lincolnton Police during the early morning hours Wednesday (August 2) on South Generals Boulevard. He originally gave officers a false identification and was turned over to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies identified him as James Adam Jones and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.

Pegram was arrested Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and jailed under $30,000 secured bond. Authorities were still searching for Brooks. Neither Jones or Pegram was listed as an inmate in Lincoln County today (August 3), they were both scheduled to appear in District Court today.
