Three S.C. Residents Arrested in Hickory on Felony Drug Charges

37-year-old Vitaly Vladimirovic Vorobyev of Inman, South Carolina, along with 36-year-old Blong Ly Vang and 39-year-old Green Xiong, both from different addresses in Spartanburg, S.C., were all arrested early this morning (August 28) by Hickory Police. Vorobyev was charged with felony counts of possession of a schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of heroin. He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant as a fugitive awaiting extradition to another state. Vorobyev is wanted in Greenville County, S.C. for failure to return rental property valued at more than $10,000. Vang was charged felony motor vehicle theft. Vang and Xiong were both charged with felony possession with intent to manufacture a schedule I controlled substance (heroin). All three suspects were charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

They were taken into custody at about 4:40 a.m. today at a convenience store on Springs Road N.E. in Hickory. According to H.P.D.’s arrest reports, all three were in possession of a firearm at the time of their arrests. The suspects were jailed in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility. Vorobyev was held without bond on the fugitive warrant. He was given an $11,000 bond on the other charges. Vang’s bond was set at $20,000, while Xiong was given a $9,000 secured bond. All three were scheduled to make first appearances in District Court Monday (August 31) in Newton.
