34-year-old Samantha Rena Lee and 25-year-old Michael Victor Ward, who are both listed as homeless persons from Hickory, were arrested last Friday (December 10) on felony counts of larceny and possession of stolen goods. 27-year-old Brianna Dawn Perry of 14th Avenue S.W. in Hickory was also arrested Friday on the same charges, as reported by WHKY yesterday (December 14). The suspects are accused of removing merchandise from the Burlington store on Catawba Valley Boulevard S.E. in Hickory.
Lee and Ward were both taken into custody without incident at about 5:15 Friday afternoon. Lee was arrested at the Burlington store. Perry was arrested just after midnight Friday. She and Ward were both taken into custody at another nearby retailer on Highway 70 S.E. All three were jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility. Lee was given a $10,000 secured bond. Perry’s bond was set at $8,000, secured, while Ward was held under a $6,500 secured bond. As of this afternoon, Perry remained in custody while the other two suspects are no longer listed as inmates in Catawba County. All three were scheduled to make first appearances in District Court this past Monday (December 13) with additional appearances set for January 3 in Newton.[NOTE: The photo of Mr. Ward initially posted was incorrect.
