Teenagers Charged In Connection To April Shooting
18-year-old Krispen Tre Blackler and 19-year-old Heavan Leigh Jones, both of Statesville, were arrested by Statesville Police Officers. Blackler was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and discharging a firearm in the city limits. Jones is charged with felony accessory after the fact.
On April 15, 2023, the Statesville Police Department responded to a shooting at an address on Inglewood Road. Following the incident, the Violent Crime Unit initiated an investigation into the shooting and identified two suspects based on obtained evidence. On June 1, warrants were obtained for Jones and Blackler.
On June 21, Heavan Leigh Jones was apprehended in Winston-Salem by US Marshals and transported back to Statesville. Jones received a $25,000 secured bond. On June 22, Blackler turned himself in at the Statesville Police Department. Blackler was given a $200,000 secured bond.
Jones was not listed as an inmate in Iredell County, Blackler remained in the Iredell County Detention Center as of earlier today (June 26). They’re both scheduled to appear in District Court July 12.
