A teenager was killed in a crash Friday (July 14) in Iredell County. The deceased is 18-year-old Christopher Alexander Rodriguez of Troutman.

On Friday, at approximately 6:40 p.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to Island Ford Road at Old Miller Road. A 2013 Honda Civic was traveling south on Old Miller Road, attempted to turn left from a stop sign onto Island Ford Road, and turned in front of a westbound 2003 Dodge Ram.

The driver of the Honda, Christopher Alexander Rodriguez passed away as a result of his injuries at the scene. The driver of the Dodge, a Statesville resident, was not injured.

The initial investigation does not indicate impairment to be a contributing factor and no charges will be filed in this case. During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was closed in the area for approximately four hours.
