Teacher Charged With Taking Indecent Liberties With Student

30-year-old Elizabeth Lee Wright of Beverly Place in Statesville was arrested Friday (August 21) by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. She’s charged with felony taking indecent liberties with a student by a teacher.

According to information released today (August 24), On August 14, 2020, a report was filed with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office by a representative of the Iredell-Statesville School System in reference to possible improper conduct by a teacher, at the Agriculture and Science Early College (ASEC), which is on the campus of North Iredell High School.

In the information provided to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, a parent had discovered inappropriate social media communications between her child and a teacher. The investigation was assigned to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit.

A Detective reviewed the report, conducted several interviews with witnesses, executed search warrants and gathered evidence during this investigation. As a result of the investigation Elizabeth Lee Wright was arrested at the Iredell County Detention Center and charged.

Her bond was set at $3,000 secured. She was not listed as an inmate today. A District Court appearance is scheduled for October 26. The investigation is on-going, anyone with additional information is asked to call the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office at 704-878-3180.
