29-year-old Brittain Lee Nichols of Fort Mill, South Carolina was arrested Monday (April 17) by Lincolnton Police Officers. He’s charged with twelve felony counts apiece of taking indecent liberties with a student and taking indecent liberties with a child.

According to published reports, the Lincolnton Police Department received a report in February, 2023 regarding a teacher allegedly taking indecent liberties with a student at Battleground Elementary School. An investigation was conducted that led to three additional alleged victims of the same teacher, who was identified by police as Brittain Lee Nichols. According to the reports, some of the victims had more than one encounter with Nichols while at the school.

The reports say that Nichols is a former music teacher at Battleground Elementary and also reportedly worked with the marching bands at East Lincoln and North Lincoln High Schools. The ages of the alleged victims have not been released.

Bond for Nichols was set at $150,000 secured. He posted that bond and was released on the day of his arrest. Nichols is scheduled to appear in District Court in Lincolnton on May 9.
