Taylorsville Sex Offender Jailed On Charges Including Illegally Being On Premises
40-year-old James Jason Perscola of Taylorsville was arrested last Thursday (March 2) by authorities in Gaston County. He was served an arrest warrant that was filed by the Taylorsville Police Department for felony sex offender on child premises.
Perscola is on the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry as a result of a 2018 conviction in Caldwell County. He was convicted in January, 2018 on a felony count of sexual activity by a substitute parent or custodian. The offense occurred in December, 2016. He was given a 24 to 89 months suspended sentence along with 60 months probation. Perscola registered as a sex offender with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and had a minimum registration period of ten years.
According to the North Carolina Judicial Branch website, Perscola faces additional charges in Alexander County including felony counts of failure to report a new address as a sex offender and probation violation out-of-county along with misdemeanor drug counts.
Perscola was jailed in the Alexander County Detention Center under $150,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (March 6). He had District Court appearances scheduled today (March 6) and April 3. A Superior Court appearance is set for April 24.
