Update: Taylorsville Resident Arrested In Double Murder Case

A Taylorsville teenager wanted for two murders and an attempted third homicide is now in custody.

19-year Michael Shane Barnes was arrested overnight at a motel in Wilkes County. Alexander County Sheriff Chris Bowman says his deputies, Taylorsville Police, and Wilkes County Officers had information that Barnes was in the Wilkesboro area.

Last Thursday (February 18), Gaston County Officers responded to a report of a shooting at Lowery Wood Road and Lewis Farm Road. Two deceased males were found, they were identified as 22-year-old Robert Lucas Gibbyand 19-year-old Adam Kale Wood. Both had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.

Approximately two hours later, a 21-year-old man entered Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem with non-life threatening gunshot wounds. He was reportedly at the scene earlier that night in Gaston County.

On Saturday (February 20), Gaston County investigators identified Barnes as the suspect in the shooting. Warrants were obtained charging him with two counts of second-degree murder and one count of attempted second-degree murder. He was placed in jail in Gaston County without bond. No court date was listed.
