A Taylorsville man is facing multiple theft charges after police say he stole merchandise from several local businesses.

According to the Taylorsville Police Department, officers arrested 42-year-old Joshua Scott Simpson on May 30. Simpson was charged with 3 counts of misdemeanor larceny following an investigation into thefts reported at multiple stores.

Investigators allege Simpson took merchandise from Walmart, Tractor Supply, Dollar General and Ace Hardware. Police said some of the items involved included trees and potting soil.

Authorities say the investigation remains active and additional charges could be filed as detectives continue reviewing the case.

Simpson was given a $3,000 secured bond and is awaiting his next court appearance.
