36-year-old Russell Gene Williams of Taylorsville was arrested Sunday (July 23) by authorities in Alexander County. He’s charged with failure to appear on a count of felony possession of a firearm by a felon. Williams was charged with the firearm offense in May, 2023. Williams is a convicted felon as a result of a conviction in Wilkes County in February, 2008 on a count of felony larceny. Following Sunday’s arrest, Williams was jailed in the Alexander County Detention Center under $60,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (July 27). A District Court appearance is set for August 7.
