Taylorsville Man Charged With Felony Weapon Offense Connected To Reported Domestic Dispute

38-year-old James Kenneth Barnette of Taylorsville was arrested Friday (February 3) by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony discharging a firearm within an enclosure to incite fear along with misdemeanor counts of assault on a female, assault on a child under 12, and child abuse.

The suspect allegedly fired shots into a home during a domestic incident in Alexander County. Barnette reportedly fled the scene and was tracked by an Alexander County K9 unit. No injuries were reported. Barnette was initially placed in the Alexander County Detention Center without bond. He is not listed as an inmate today (February 7). A District Court date is set for February 27.
