34-year-old Jessica Amber Ruch of Newton was arrested by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers. She’s charged with trafficking in heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle to transport a controlled substance, felony possession of marijuana, conspiracy to traffic in opium, conspiracy to sell marijuana, and failure to yield for blue light and siren.
On Friday (September 11) investigators with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Group (SEG) seized 7.5 ounces of heroin during a traffic stop along Hwy 16 South in Catawba County. 6.5 pounds of marijuana was also seized at that time.
Authorities say Ruch was the driver of the vehicle in question. 34-year-old Floyd Gibbs III of Newton is charged with conspiring with Ruch. He was arrested in conjunction with this investigation and charged with conspiracy to traffic in heroin and conspiracy to sell and deliver marijuana.
Ruch received a secured bond of $200,000. She was scheduled to appear in District Court in Newton Monday (September 14). Gibbs received a $100,000 secured bond and was scheduled to appear in District Court today (September 15). Neither suspect is currently listed as an inmate in Catawba County.
This is an ongoing investigation worked in conjunction with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Gastonia Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Newton Police Department.
