Suspects Charged In Connection To Armed Robbery Of Business

53-year-old Reginald Lee Forney of Lincolnton and 38-year-old Misty Nicole Hayes of Maiden were arrested by Lincolnton Police Officers. Forney is charged with felony counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon along with a misdemeanor count of assault by pointing a gun. Hayes is charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The suspects are charged in connection to an armed robbery at a business in Lincoln County. Investigators say the couple took a cash register from a Family Dollar Store on East Main Street in Lincolnton on January 19. According to reports, Forney entered the store armed with a rifle while Hayes drove the getaway vehicle.

Forney is a felon as a result of convictions dating back to 2003. According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Forney has been convicted of crimes in Catawba, Gaston, and Lincoln Counties. His most recent conviction was in September, 2022 in Catawba County for charges including felony possession of schedule II controlled substance.

Both suspects remained in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center in Lincolnton as of earlier today (January 26). Forney’s bond was set at $160,000 and Hayes was being held under $10,000 bond. Forney has a District Court date February 15, Hayes is scheduled to appear in District Court February 13.
