39-year-old Donna Faye Lingerfelt-Adams and 47-year-old Terry Allan Griffin, both of the same Lincoln Avenue NW, Valdese address, were arrested by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. Lingerfelt-Adams was charged with felony counts of intentional child abuse inflicting serious physical injury and possession of methamphetamine, along with a misdemeanor count of possession of oxycodone. Griffin is charged with felony possession of methamphetamine. A third resident of that address was arrested on a count of failure to appear.
According to information released Wednesday (August 26), on August 18, 2020, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division received information from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services-Child Protective division. The information contained allegations concerning child abuse on an 11-month-old boy.
Following the investigation into the complaint, on August 21 a warrant was issued for the arrest of Donna Fay Lingerfelt-Adams. Lingerfelt-Adams was arrested at her residence the morning of August 22 without incident. Burke County Sheriff’s Office Detectives searched Lingerfelt-Adams’ residence on August 25. In addition to Lingerfelt-Adams, Terry Allan Griffin and the third suspect were present during the search.
Lingerfelt-Adams and Griffin were both found to be in the possession of methamphetamine and Lingerfelt-Adams was also found to be in the possession of oxycodone. The third suspect had the unserved failure to appear warrant outstanding. Lingerfelt-Adams received a $54,000 total secured bond, Griffin’s bond was set at $4,000 secured.
