Suspect Wanted In Sex Offense Case Arrested, Served Warrants From Lincoln, Catawba Counties

30-year-old Maxwell Sidney Fletcher of Mount Holly was taken into custody Monday (May 20) by detectives with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. He’s been formally charged with statutory sex offense with a child 15-years-old or younger.

Fletcher was previously arrested by authorities in South Carolina, as previously reported on WHKY. He was also served with outstanding warrants from Catawba County for charges including felony counts of second-degree kidnapping and indecent liberties with a child.

At the time of his arrest, Fletcher held positions as both a teacher and coach at W.C. Friday Middle School in Dallas, N.C., which is part of the Gaston County School system. He also previously served as a coach in the Lincoln County Schools system.

Fletcher is currently under investigation by multiple counties for alleged sex offenses, which authorities believed to have occurred across various neighboring jurisdictions. It is anticipated that further charges will be brought forth as the investigation progresses.

On Monday, detectives from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Fletcher in Cherokee County, South Carolina. He was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center in Lincolnton without bond. He was scheduled to appear in District Court today (May 21) in Lincoln County and Wednesday (May 23) in Catawba County.
