Suspect Taken Into Custody For Second Time In Two Weeks

An Alexander County man has been arrested for the second time in two weeks. 59-year-old Scott Darnell Frye of Hiddenite was arrested Tuesday (September 19) on a warrant from Iredell County for failure to appear. At the time of the arrest, Frye was reportedly found to have drugs in his possession. As a result, he was charged in Alexander County with felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

As WHKY previously reported, on September 6, Frye was arrested along with another individual. He was charged with felony counts of possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. On that date, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle on U.S. 64. The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to respond to the early morning traffic stop after controlled substances were reportedly found in the suspect’s vehicle. Frye and the other suspect were taken into custody.

Prior to that arrest, Frye was already facing a string of charges in Alexander County including felony drug counts, multiple counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering and more than 30 traffic related offenses. According to the North Carolina Judicial Branch website, he has multiple court dates scheduled in October and November. There are 29 listings on the website for Alexander County.

Following Tuesday’s arrest, Frye was incarcerated in the Alexander County Detention Center. He remained in jail as of earlier today (September 21) under $10,000 secured bond on the Alexander County charges and $3,000 secured bond on the Iredell County charge. Frye is scheduled to appear in court in Taylorsville October 9 on the drug charges.
