Two Lincoln Co. Sheriff’s Deputies were injured by gunfire today (August 24) while attempting to serve warrants on an individual who was killed during the altercation. At about 12:15 this afternoon, Officers responded to a physical domestic disturbance at an address on Gaston Webbs Chapel Road in Crouse. After clearing the call, Deputies learned that a male subject involved in the domestic disturbance had four outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Deputies returned to the location to serve the warrants. The male suspect then retreated into a block building on the property. He began firing a shotgun, striking two Officers. Deputies returned fire, killing the suspect.
One Deputy was transported to Atrium Health – Main where he was treated for shotgun pellets to the face. A second Deputy was struck in the arm by shotgun pellets and was treated at Atrium Health – Lincoln.
The deceased suspect’s name has not been released, pending notification of kin. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.
