35-year-old Julius Santez Williams of Yadkin County was arrested Friday (October 16) in Catawba County on charges from Alexander County. The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office has charged Williams with felony counts of first-degree rape, first-degree burglary, first-degree kidnapping, and assault inflicting serious bodily injury.
Williams is charged in connection to a home invasion that occurred on July 19 in Hiddenite. The incident was previously reported on WHKY. An elderly woman was awakened in her home by a man hitting her in the face and strangling her. He also reportedly sexually assaulted the victim.
As WHKY reported Friday, Williams was spotted in Monroe earlier that day but was able to elude officers on foot. Alexander County Sheriff Chris Bowman said Friday that D.N.A. evidence confirmed by the State Bureau of Investigation crime lab, linked Williams to the crime.
Williams has a long criminal history and is a registered sex-offender who has been convicted for indecent liberties with a minor multiple times involving multiple victims. He was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center under a secured bond of $1,225,000. He remained in jail as of earlier today (October 19).
