18-year-old Toland Huff, Jr. of 14th Avenue Drive S.W. in Hickory has been arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and discharging a firearm in the city limits.

Huff was charged in connection with an incident shortly before 10:30 Monday night (April 3) in which shots were fired in the area near the 900 block of South Center Street, previously reported by WHKY the following day. Witnesses identified Huff as the shooter. No one was injured. At the time of the incident, Huff was out on bond on attempted murder charges in connection with a shooting at Sunny Valley Apartments on March 14.

Huff turned himself in at the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office this afternoon (April 6). He was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $200,000 secured bond. He’ll appear in District Court on April 10.
