30-year-old Octavius Dontae Morgan has been taken into custody in Mississippi in connection with a fatal shooting in Hickory earlier this year.

The incident occurred on the evening of May 15 when residents at the Wimberly Crossing Apartments on 12th Avenue S.E. reported that a male subject had been shot and was lying on the porch at an apartment. Officers found the man, 46-year-old Wade McArthur Danner, Jr., on the porch with gunshot injuries. Catawba County E.M.S. responded and pronounced Danner deceased at the scene.

Witnesses said there had been a verbal altercation involving Mr. Danner and another male, identified as Octavius Dontae Morgan. Witness said Morgan shot Danner and fled the area. Investigators obtained a warrant charging Morgan with first-degree murder.

On July 13, Morgan was taken into custody by Coahoma County Sheriff’s Officers in Clarksdale, Mississippi. He is currently awaiting extradition.
