Suspect In Hickory Shooting Sought
On Monday (April 3) shortly before 10:30 p.m. a Hickory Police Officer on patrol heard multiple gunshots in the area of the 900 block of South Center St. Upon arriving in the area, the officer was advised that an 18-year-old male victim was hiding inside a business on South Center St.
The victim and witnesses said that a light colored SUV pulled up beside the teenager as he was walking in the area and that a passenger exited the vehicle with a rifle and began firing rounds at him as he ran away. Witnesses of the incident identified 18-year-old Toland Huff, Jr. as the shooter. The victim was not injured during the shooting and multiple shell casings were recovered.
The Hickory Police Department was searching for Toland Huff Jr. On charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and discharging a firearm in the city limits in connection to this incident. Huff is currently out on bond, he’s charged with attempted murder in connection to a shooting incident at Sunny Valley Apartments on March 14, 2023.
