25-year-old Randall Kent Brank of Piney Road in Morganton was apprehended Thursday (August 6) by multiple law enforcement agencies. He’s charged by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Brank was also served with outstanding warrants charging him with misdemeanor counts of assault on a female and assault with a deadly weapon.
Law enforcement officers from the Lenoir Police Department, Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina Probation and the Burke County Sheriff’s Office located Randall Brank in the woods near an address on Forest Place in Lenoir at approximately 1 p.m. Thursday.
Brank is charged in connection to a shooting earlier this week. The incident occurred at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday (August 4). At that time, Deputies were dispatched to a shooting at an address on Goat Farm Street in Hickory. Upon arrival, Deputies found a resident of the house who had been shot in the face and arm by what appeared to be pellets from a shotgun blast.
According the victim and witnesses, Brank drove by the victim’s residence and fired the shot from a black S.U.V., possibly a Range Rover or Land Rover. The victim was standing in his front yard when the suspect fired the shot from the roadway. The victim was transported to the hospital by Burke County E.M.S.
Brank was placed in the Burke County Jail under $106,000 secured bond, he remained in jail as of earlier today (August 7). District Court dates were scheduled for today, next Monday (August 10), and September 10.
