Suspect In August, 2022 Shooting Turns Himself In To Police
Malik Keyshawn Gibbs of Wilkesboro was arrested Monday (January 30) by Boone Police Officers. He’s charged with three felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, one felony count of discharging a weapon into a moving vehicle, two misdemeanor counts of injury to real property and one misdemeanor count of going armed to the terror of people.
Gibbs surrendered himself for arrest on Monday morning. The arrest stems from a shooting that occurred on West King Street in August of 2022. Gibbs, who was 26-years-old at the time of the incident, met lead Detective Dennis O’Neal at the Watauga County Magistrate’s Office with his attorney. He was served with a True Bill of Indictment charging him with the previously mentioned offenses.
Gibbs received a $75,000 secured bond and was placed in the custody of the Watauga County Detention Center. He’s scheduled to appear in Watauga County Superior Court March 6.
