Suspect Found Hiding In Closet Charged In Two Counties

32-year-old Kenteze Ravon Martin of Burkemont Avenue in Morganton was arrested Sunday (April 9) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged in Cleveland County with felony counts of larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle. Martin is charged in Burke County with two misdemeanor counts of resisting a public officer.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday Public Safety Officers responded to Glenwood Hills Apartments on Burkemont Avenue to assist Cleveland County authorities, who called and requested they check and see if Kenteze Martin was staying there. The officers entered the apartment and found Martin hiding in an upright fetal position in a closet.

According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Martin has a criminal history that includes convictions dating back to 2008. He’s been convicted of crimes including felony counts of breaking & entering to vehicles, possession of a firearm by a felon, and obtaining property by false pretense. Most of the convictions were in Cleveland County.

Following Sunday’s arrest, Martin was brought to the Burke County Jail, where he was incarcerated under $55,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (April 11). A District Court date on the Burke County charges was scheduled Monday (April 10). He was scheduled to appear in Cleveland County District Court today in Shelby.
