Suspect Charged With Offenses In Multiple Counties

29-year-old Steven Michael Day of Conley Road in Morganton was arrested Sunday (March 10) by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged in Burke County with three failure to appear warrants for felony breaking & entering to a motor vehicle along with misdemeanor counts of larceny and possession of stolen goods. He’s also charged in Catawba County with possession of stolen goods or property, obtaining property by false pretense and possession of a firearm by a felon.

According to the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction Offender Public Information Website, Day is a felon as a result of multiple convictions on various charges dating back to 2016 in Burke, Cleveland, Catawba & Lincoln Counties. The crimes include felony counts of breaking & entering, possession of stolen goods, larceny of a motor vehicle, and possession of schedule II controlled substance. His most recent conviction was in June, 2023 in Catawba County for probation violation.

Day was arrested shortly after 3:30 p.m. Sunday. He was being held in the Burke County Jail under $97,501 bond. A Burke County District Court date is set for April 8, a Superior Court appearance is scheduled for April 15 in Catawba County.
