Suspect Charged With Offenses In Alexander, Catawba Counties

28-year old Dexton Marqez Banner of Taylorsville was arrested Wednesday (May 2) by authorities in Alexander County. He’s charged with felony counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and larceny after breaking and entering along with a misdemeanor count of injury to personal property.

Banner had previous charges pending in Alexander County including breaking and entering and assault with a deadly weapon. In Catawba County, charges are pending against Banner including felony possession of schedule I controlled substance, along with misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and shoplifting with concealment of goods.

Accoring to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Banner has multiple convictions dating back to December, 2014, in Caldwell and Catawba Counties. He’s been convicted of multiple felony and misdemeanor offenses including disclosure of private images, assault by strangulation, conspiracy to commit first-degree burglary, and larceny of a motor vehicle. Banner’s most recent conviction was in July, 2023 in Catawba County.

Following Wednesday’s arrest, Banner was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center without bond. He’s scheduled to appear in District Court in Taylorsville next Monday (May 6).
