Suspect Charged With Murder In Connection To Overdose Death
34-year-old Nathaniel Scott Cass of Diane Lane in Statesville was arrested Sunday (April 2) by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged on a Grand Jury Indictment with felony second-degree murder by unlawful distribution of a substance.
Deputy Kris Robbins of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office developed leads after contacting local community members. The citizens contacted by the deputy provided him with information on where the suspect could be located. On Sunday Deputy Robbins was able to locate and arrest Nathaniel Scott Cass.
Cass had an outstanding Grand Jury Indictment for second-degree murder in connection to an overdose death investigated by the Statesville Police Department. Further details on the death have not been released due to circumstances surrounding the incident.
Deputy Robbins was able to arrest Cass at a business on Harmony Highway. The suspect had been evading other members of regional law enforcement agencies for some time. Cass was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was jailed under $300,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (April 4) A Superior Court date is scheduled for May 1.
