Suspect Charged With More Than 30 Counts Of Larceny By Employee

51-year-old Fred Nathaniel Gregory of Brookhaven Road in Statesville was arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with 32 counts of felony larceny by employee.

According to information released Monday (September 25), the suspect is charged in connection to the fraudulent use of a company fuel card following an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation began on September 15, after the Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a Statesville business owner in reference to suspicions that an employee had been stealing from the company.

The business owner reported that Gregory had been using a company-issued fuel card for personal use. The case was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division. Witnesses were interviewed and video footage was recovered along with records of the fuel transactions for the card.

A detective discovered that Gregory had allegedly used his employer’s company fuel card illegally 32 times dating back to January 2021. Gregory was arrested on September 19, and charged with the 32 felony counts. He was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond. Gregory was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (September 27). His next District Court date is October 25.
