Suspect Charged With Firearm Offenses

22-year-old Chakrisis Ramseur of Statesville was arrested last Thursday (November 16) by Troutman Police Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed gun. Ramseur is also charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

On Thursday, officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle for a registration violation on South Eastway Drive in Troutman. Upon making contact with the occupants officers reportedly detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Before conducting a probable cause search of the vehicle officers had the occupants exit and discovered that one of the passengers, Chakrisis Ramseur, had a concealed semiautomatic pistol in his possession.

Following a record check of the pistol’s serial number, it was discovered that it had been reported stolen out of Charlotte. A search of the vehicle resulted in the reported discovery of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia. According to the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections Offender Public Information website, Ramseur has three misdemeanor convictions dating back to 2020, all in Iredell County.

Ramseur was placed under arrest and taken before a magistrate where he was ordered held on a $10,000 bond. He was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (November 20). A District Court date is scheduled for December 11.
