Suspect Charged With Firearm, Drug Offenses Following Reported Standoff
26-year-old Zachary Dominic LaForce of Mooresville was arrested Wednesday (February 15) by Mooresville Police Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place for controlled substance, and manufacture, sell, deliver, or possess controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school. LaForce is also charged with misdemeanor counts of assault on a female, simple possession of schedule IV controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting a public officer.
On Wednesday, shortly after 7:00 a.m., the Mooresville Police Department received a call regarding a car that was stopped in the intersection of Oak Street and Statesville Avenue. As responding officers approached the car in question, they found the driver was unresponsive and armed with a handgun.
After a brief standoff with the driver, the officers were able to remove him from the car and place him under arrest. The driver, Zachary Dominic LaForce, was the only occupant of the car. During the arrest, a handgun, cocaine, other narcotics, and cash were reportedly seized from the driver’s possession.
LaForce was brought to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was given a $25,000 secured bond. He was not listed as an inmate in Iredell County today (February 17). District Court dates are scheduled for March 7 and March 9.
