Suspect Charged With Drug, Weapon Offenses Following Traffic Stop

21-year-old Bryson Lee Coleman of Cleveland, N.C. was arrested last Wednesday (January 17) by Troutman Police Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of methamphetamine along with a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Last Wednesday, officers with the Troutman Police Department conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle operated by Bryson Coleman in the 300 block of South Main Street. During the traffic stop, a K9 officer conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle, during which the K9 indicated the presence of the odor of a narcotic.

A probable cause search of the vehicle led to the discovery of methamphetamine and a Taurus pistol. Coleman is a convicted felon as a result of a conviction in August, 2023 in Rowan County. He was convicted of felony counts discharging a firearm into occupied property and possession of schedule II controlled substance. He was initially ordered held in the Iredell County Detention Center without bond.

As of earlier today (January 22), Coleman was being held under $20,000 secured bond. A District Court appearance is scheduled for February 7.
