34-year-old Tony John Young of Mahogany Road in Statesville was arrested by Statesville Police Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell & deliver cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Last Wednesday (January 17), following complaints from citizens, the Statesville Police Department’s Narcotics Division, in collaboration with the Special Response Team, executed a search warrant at Young’s Mahogany Road address, just east of Statesville. This operation came in response to community complaints regarding drug sales allegedly being conducted by Tony John Young.
According to complaints, Young was engaging in drug sales both within the city limits of Statesville and from his home. In light of these allegations, an investigation into Young’s activities was launched, leading to controlled purchases of narcotics directly from the Mahogany Road home.
During the search, law enforcement officers reportedly found crack cocaine, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a Mini Draco AK-47 style pistol, which investigators were able to link to Young. Young is a convicted felon with a prior record and is on probation for possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
Young was taken into custody and placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under $62,500 bond. He was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (January 23). A District Court date is scheduled for January 31.
