Suspect Charged In Connection To Taylorsville Shooting

20-year-old Caeson Shayne Cannon of Duncan Hill Lane in Taylorsville was arrested Friday (June 17) by Taylorsville Police Officers. Cannon is charged with felony counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle, obstruction of justice and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

The charges stem from a reported shooting on Thursday, June 9 in the parking lot of the Food Lion store in west Taylorsville. Video from the store revealed a black pickup and a red sedan involved in the incident. Shell casings and broken glass were recovered in the parking lot.

Later in the evening on June 9, Cannon reportedly contacted Taylorsville Police identifying himself as the driver of the truck. He denied firing a weapon but told investigators he had gone to the parking lot for the purpose of a drug deal. The red Chevrolet sedan had not been located but was captured on video shortly after the shooting at other locations in Taylorsville.

Cannon was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center under $200,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (June 20). A District Court date is set for June 27 in Taylorsville. Taylorsville Police are still searching for the red sedan believed to be a Chevrolet Cobalt. If you have any information contact The Taylorsville Police Department at 828-632-2911 or CRIMESTOPPERS of Alexander County at 828-632-8555.
