Suspect Charged In Connection To Reported Machete Attack In Hickory

We have more information regarding the arrest of a Claremont man, previously reported on WHKY. The suspect is facing an assault charge following an incident last Friday (November 24) in Hickory.

36-year-old Christopher Alan Lambert of Riverbend Road in Claremont was arrested Sunday (November 26) by Hickory Police Officers. He’s charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

The victim has been identified as a 54-year old homeless man. The victim was airlifted to a regional medical facility for treatment. No update on his condition had been made available. Lambert was also treated.

As reported earlier on WHKY, an altercation was reported at a location off 15th Avenue Place SE, behind the McDonald’s restaurant located on Highway 70 SE. A published report said a machete was used in the altercation.

Lambert was taken into custody at an address on Fairgrove Church Road, SE shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday. He was initially jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under no bond. As of earlier today (November 28), he remained in jail under $20,000 bond. A District Court date was scheduled today.
