Suspect Arrested On Firearm Charges

32-year-old Eddrick Pierre Steele of Mooresville was arrested by Mooresville Police Officers. He’s charged with felony possession of a firearm by a felon along with misdemeanor counts of discharging a firearm in the city limits and possession of marijuana.

On Monday (October 9) at approximately 6:50 p.m., Mooresville Police responded to a disturbance call on North Church Street near the intersection of East Statesville Avenue. Responding officers were informed that an adult male came to a residence on North Church Street after his juvenile child was involved in a fight at Liberty Park.

The man confronted an adult female at the residence about others he believed were involved in the fight with his child, and the two adults engaged in a verbal altercation. After the verbal altercation ended, the man returned to his vehicle and left the area. As he was driving away, the man fired five shots from a handgun into the air. No one was injured and no property damage was sustained during the incident.

Officers reviewed video of the incident that showed the adult male holding a dark colored object out of the driver’s window, and five gunshots could be heard coming from the vehicle as it drove away. Officers recovered several spent 9mm shell casings on the roadway in the area the truck was when the gun shots were heard on the incident video.

Officers found the suspect’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The man admitted to being at the residence and being involved in the verbal altercation but claimed he did not fire a weapon. Upon further investigation, Officers found a spent 9mm shell casing and a small amount of marijuana inside his vehicle.

The suspect, Steele, was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond. He was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (October 11). A District Court date is set for October 31.
