Suspect Arrested In Connection To Alexander County Shooting
67-year-old David Bryant Marlowe of Hiddenite was arrested Thursday (June 29) by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
On Thursday, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Alexander County 911 Communications Center received a call in reference to a possible shooting in the area of Highway 90 East and Cheatham Ford Road. The caller said a man in an older model Chevrolet truck, shot another person in the shoulder.
Officers arrived and there was nobody at the scene. Deputies began searching the area for an old Chevrolet truck and a dark blue Ford Explorer. A short time later, officers found the victim at a BP convenience store in Iredell County. The victim had a gunshot wound to the shoulder and was transported to a medical facility by Iredell EMS. The victim sustained non life-threatening injuries.
The victim and witness stated the shooting stemmed from a road rage incident on Cheatham Ford Road. Additional witnesses gave detectives a partial tag number and vehicle description. Officers went to a location on Vashti Road and contacted 67-year old David Bryant Marlowe. Evidence that was collected led to to his arrest.
Marlowe was taken into custody and charged. Following the arrest, Marlowe was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center under a secured bond of $50,000. He was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (June 30). A District Court date is scheduled for Monday (July 3) in Taylorsville.
