Suspect Arrested In Case Involving Alleged Sexual Exploitation

25-year-old Devin Gage Staley of West Front Street in Statesville was arrested Thursday (January 25) by Statesville Police Officers. He’s charged with 12 counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

On January 9, 2024, investigators received a substantial number of reports from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation regarding an individual in Statesville, who was found to be uploading child sexual exploitation material. It was established that the suspect in question was identified as Devin Gage Staley.

Investigators sought and were granted multiple search warrants for various social media accounts associated with Staley, reportedly uncovering a significant number of material uploads of child sexual exploitation material. At the conclusion of the investigation, it was determined that these material uploads had taken place between December 8, 2022, and April 26, 2023, amounting to a total of 33 files.

On January 22, investigators obtained warrants against Staley. On January 25, the United States Marshal’s Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force successfully apprehended Staley at a home on Jennings Road in Statesville. Staley was presented before the magistrate, who ordered him to be held without bond, citing the nature of the charges. Bond has since been set at $101,000. A court date is set for February 6.

As the investigation continues, the possibility of additional charges remains under consideration.
