Sunday COVID-19 Update: Hospitalizations Decrease In Catawba, Burke Counties

35 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Saturday (July 25) in Catawba County, increasing the overall total to 1,720, with 24 deaths. Hospitalizations decreased once again, to 17, from 20 on Friday. It’s the second consecutive day the number of people in the hospital with the coronavirus has decreased. Hospitalizations have nearly been reduced by half in the last week in Catawba County, the total was 33 last Monday (July 20).

15 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed Saturday in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 920, with 11 deaths. 18 Caldwell County residents were hospitalized with the coronavirus Saturday. No new COVID-19 cases were announced Saturday by Alexander County health officials, leaving the total at 238, with two deaths.

Burke County Public Health reported 26 new COVID-19 infections Saturday, increasing the county’s total to 1478, with 25 deaths. There were six people hospitalized with the coronavirus in Burke County, down from ten in the previous update, and at least 1,084 patients had recovered.
