139 New Cases in Catawba County; New Single-Day High for State [UPDATED 7:05 a.m. 12/07]

139 new cases of COVID-19 were reported yesterday (December 6) by Catawba County Public Health, increasing the overall total to 7,943 with 103 deaths. There are 77 people hospitalized in Catawba County, the highest single-day total reported thus far.

At last report, there have been a total of 4,577 COVID-19 cases in Burke County, an increase of 96 from Friday’s report. There have been 71 coronavirus-related deaths in Burke County and 20 people are currently in the hospital.

46 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed Saturday (December 5) in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 3,847 with 51 deaths. There are 27 people hospitalized with the virus in Caldwell.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (N.C.D.H.H.S.) reports that there have been 1,813 cases of COVID-19 in Alexander County, 59 more than the last update. There have been 19 coronavirus-related deaths in Alexander.

In the latest numbers released on Saturday, the N.C.D.H.H.S. reports 6,438 new cases of COVID-19 statewide, the highest single-day total since the start of the pandemic. 5,543 people have died, statewide.
