The Sun Belt Conference tournament will begin with a pair of single-elimination games on Tuesday, May 23, followed by an eight-team double-elimination bracket. The championship game will be contested at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday, May 28, and will determine the Sun Belt Conference’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

The conference currently boasts the No. 5 RPI in the nation—trailing only the SEC, ACC, Pac-12 and Big 12.

The Sun Belt is coming off a banner 2022 campaign in which it joined the SEC, ACC, Big 12 and Pac-12 as 1-of-5 conferences with four-or-more teams selected to compete in NCAA Baseball Regionals.

Louisiana is the reigning Sun Belt tournament champion, while Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Texas State and newcomer Southern Miss joined the Ragin’ Cajuns in the NCAA field a year ago.

The Sun Belt was a multi-bid conference for 23-straight seasons from 1989-2011, earning 60 postseason berths over the stretch. Over the ensuing 10 postseasons—spanning 11 years due to the COVID-19 cancellation in 2020—the Sun Belt has earned 18 NCAA berths, including a conference-best four following the 2022 season.

The Sun Belt’s four additions—James Madison, Marshall, Old Dominion and Southern Miss—have combined for 37 NCAA Baseball Regional appearances all-time, with 22 of those berths coming over the past 25 seasons. Paramount among the newcomers is a Southern Miss program that has appeared in the postseason following 15-of-19 campaigns since 2003, including the past six years.

Located in downtown Montgomery, Riverwalk Stadium has served as the permanent home of the Tampa Bay Rays Double-A affiliate Montgomery Biscuits since opening in 2004.
