String Of Vehicle Break-ins Under Investigation

There were multiple vehicle break-ins overnight last Thursday night (June 16) into early Friday morning in Statesville. The break-ins occurred on Valley Street, Hunter Street, and Olive Court. Multiple SPD units responded to the area to canvass & patrol the neighborhoods, searching for the suspect. As of the most recent report, they had not found a suspect.

SPD Officers were able to obtain a description of a man wearing a black hoodie, carrying a Nike backpack. All of the vehicles targeted were unlocked. Statesville Police remind citizens to always lock your vehicles and remove valuables overnight. In this rash of break-ins, as in previous cases in other neighborhoods, the suspect specifically targeted unlocked vehicles, which brings less attention than breaking a window.

The cases were assigned to the Investigations Division. The Statesville Police Department asks citizens living in the area to check any surveillance cameras or doorbell cameras you may have to see if there was any activity or if the suspect was caught on video.

If you see anything on video that might be of assistance, contact the Statesville Police Department with any information at 704-878-3406 or contact Captain Bryan Johnson at 980-635-7141 or e-mail djohnson@statesvillenc.net.
